Happy Thanksgiving

We have had such are relaxing morning. It's 11 and all I have managed to do is make coffee, destroy the kitchen, I mean cook in the kitchen, clean up that mess, and then watch the parade with my daughter. We usually host, so it's been a nice break.

This year I *perfected* my vegan shepards pie. A layer of roasted walnuts, carmelized onions mushrooms, celery, carrots, and peas... topped off with garlic mashed potatoes. Yum! I've been modifying the recipe for years, but I never write it down... so each year I forget the changes I made... you see where this is going. This year I took notes. Ta dah.

My mother-in-law gave one of her horses, Wynn to the Detroit police a few years ago. We visit him from time to time and we always try to spot him in the Thanksgiving Day parade each year.

Isn't he a beauty?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Early Holiday Show

One of my favorite things is the Holiday show at The Lamb's Tail. They always have *the* best antiques, vintage pieces, and fun accessories too. This year it was so warm {by Michigan standards} and the barn and the tents were filled to the brim with holiday goodies.

Here is a peek:

There were two of these storage bin thingies. I talked myself out of it like 10 times since our basement remodel won't be happening for a while. It would be the coolest for craft storage. Okay, I'm still thinking about it.

My husband had to have this vintage- cart- turned- coffee- table.
{even though we already have this one- scroll down in the post a little}

...and this island for our Kitchen remodel, someday. It seems like we are stock piling for a renovation. Hmmm...

This picture is a reminder that I need to carry a camera at all times and stop relying on Iphone pictures. It was the prettiest tree... but not in a picture without a flash.

Enjoy the short work week... and Happy Thanksgiving.

Week of design

Secret boards on Pinterest? No way.
Maybe I should hide my *next house* board from my husband... since we just moved two years ago.

It's finally here...the book by Young House Love. I had it on pre-order forever.
Totally worth the wait. I already marked a few of their projects that would be great for our house.

... and I helped a beekeeper with some tile design.
That's not something you hear everyday.

...and I love bees too {remember my paintings?} so it was a super fun time.
We also went to my favorite antique show and found some serious treasures
... more on that later.

Pinterest-ing Halloween

Yes, I know I'm a day late on this...
but here's a recap on our little Halloween get together, Pinterest style.

Caramel apple slices via Paula Dean
{Her sweet, southern accent makes me miss my Savannah days.}

This hummus critter was a hit.

My mom made those cute owl cupcakes that you probably pinned on Pinterest, but never made.

I attempted to make scary eyes in our bushes but it didn't really work.
{Maybe the eyes should have been bigger?}
Two out of three isn't so bad.

.. and our favorite Halloween tradition, *booing* the neighbors. My daughter loves to sneak around to the neighbor's houses and tape them to the doors. If you are lucky enough to know your neighbors, give this a try.
