Hello Fall

I'm getting ready for fall like this little guy. I've been canning marinara sauce...

and yesterday I picked all of the basil left in the garden and made some pesto to enjoy all winter long. This presto pesto recipe is perfect because you can freeze it in small portions. I already defrosted one and made pasta and it tastes just as fresh as before it was frozen.
It's an 8 minute dinner on a week day. Fast, delicious, and healthy!

In other news... we are in the middle of taking apart our bedroom closets because... well, the pictures will tell you why.

They aren't large closets but I think they could be more efficient and *definitely*
 prettier. Room for improvement, right?!

I'll post the after pictures when we are done in a week or so. We plan drywalling, tiling the floor and finding some cool lighting. (cooler than that fluorescence lighting?! Haha)

Pebbles

I have a little head cold today so this will be short and sweet. We met with a rep from Island Stone at work and I just had to share some of their products with you... and they are from Bali so that got me back on track with my need to go there... *someday*.

The chevron glass pattern is gorgeous, almost like feathers. Love it.

 The pebbles are *a-mazing*. Really. Modern, organic, and tropical all at once.
{I love pebbles... like at the header of this blog!}

They make custom pebble designs too. Yes please.

Farewell Summer

We survived day four of kindergarten. It was kind of a *big deal*. Peyton's bus picked her up at 8:46 and I made it to spinning class by 9:00... on foot... via a short cut through a nearby park. There were burs on my yoga pants.
You just can't make this stuff up!

So, it's time to say good bye to summer. I feel like we covered most of our summer wish list and there is  still a little time to spare. Don't you feel rushed to fit everything in before the school year starts?

We made it up north a few times and clocked in some serious beach hours.

We planted an amazing garden and enjoyed all the herbs and veggies... they are still coming! I taught Peyton how to ride a bike without training wheels.
We even managed to have a few of those friends that you *hardly ever* get to see over for dinner.

... and last on our list was a lemonade stand.

{We know how to spell lemonade. The *e* was hiding... it was such a windy day!}

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Modern Woodsy

I would describe our house as modern woodsy. {I like things more clean lined and the hubby likes rustic- think hunting lodge so our house ends up somewhere in the middle.}

Mid Century Modern architecture merges modern and woodsy perfectly. I guess I prefer the flip- flop of that; a rustic old home with modern and vintage furnishings.

My husband and I might end up with something like this as a compromise someday. Lol.

We checked out this location for a friend's wedding in Northport on the Leelanau Penninsula. Do you ever go somewhere like a restaurant or bar and feel like it totally captures the aesthetic of what you want for your house? Well the whole Penninsula is gorgeous but Willowbrook Mill is modern farmhouse perfection. Oh, wow do I love the  details!

Looved it. Enjoy your weekend.
